I would like to tell you a story about my knee. In February 2017, I had anterior cruciate ligament plastic surgery. After 20 years of active soccer, I ruptured my ACL in a soccer game. And that's when my story and long and sometimes endless journey to recovery began. :) First I tried to put my knee back together without surgery. Unfortunately, I felt that this was not the case, so I finally decided to undergo the operation.
After the surgery it was really hard because my knee was swelling and I couldn't do anything. Just lie down, ice and keep the leg elevated.
After it calmed down, I started attending knee rehabs, but unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to find the right place. The approach at this rehabilitation center was very unprofessional and not even a bit individual. After a few classes, I decided to leave the center and started treating my knee myself.
I must say that knee rehabilitation is a very long process , during which a person must be really patient and must perceive himself. Half a year after the surgery, I finally started to see the long-awaited results. Yoga, stretching and strength training have really helped me a lot.
Unfortunately, the knee will not heal by itself, you have to go against it a lot and the truth is to devote yourself to the rehabilitation of the knee whenever you can , if you want to be healthy as soon as possible. Despite the big restrictions when I couldn't do sports, which was really hard for me as a sports lover, I have to admit that it gave me a lot of experience. I learned to be more aware of my body and how to work with my knee after surgery in such cases.
With the passage of time, I am glad for this experience and in a way I am also grateful. But I admit that I didn't talk like that in the beginning :D
A year and a half after the operation, thanks to rehabilitation, I can feel my knee almost one hundred percent and I don't feel any limitations in any sport. I currently surf, run, kit, go to the Spartan Race , strengthen and function exactly the same as before the operation.
And what would I recommend to everyone? Patience and surround yourself with people who will be interested in your knee and perceive it individually, not as another piece of meat :)
